These documents, from the National Institute of Health (the same agency who brings you COVID 19 guidance) explains the story of marijuana. This is science. Follow the science as Dr. Fauci would say.
Government Articles On Marijuana
My Bell County Commissioner opponent, Louie Minor, voted against his own marijuana ordinance while speaking to the Killeen City Council on 26 July. Councilman Ken Wilkerson also voted against the ordiance. What do they both really believe and represent? Can you trust them or are they playing games with voters? I am consistent in championing common sense and values. I firmly oppose this ordinance for numerous reason I stated at the 26 July meeting.
Marijuana Legalization in Killeen
My positions on marijuana is that Medical Marijuana and Recreational Marijuana are “TWO entirely unique and separate issues”. I support medicinal (regulated) marijuana. I Do Not support recreational marijuana for many reasons to include:
There will be a lack of regulation and a projected increase in serious crimes (Source: various law enforcement agencies in Bell County) making it an irresponsible choice.
Marijuana is an addictive gateway drug leading to other drug use. THC content from in marijuana about 30-40 years ago was approximately 15%. Today it can reach 70-85%.
Studies have shown traffic fatalities have doubled once marijuana was legalized. Increased traffic accident and fatalities caused by users (national Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Boston University
Whether Austin or Killeen passes a pro-marijuana bill will not make marijuana legal in Bell County, Texas, or at the Federal level, pitting various law enforcement agencies at odds with each other and putting users at greater risk of prosecution if they don’t understand the law.
Just because Austin,TX. passes a bill, does not make the essence of that bill right for Killeen,TX.
EXAMPLE: If someone makes a poorly-conceived decision to walk off a steep cliff, should you follow them?
